If you’ve got pets or kids, or you’re a human, you probably have dirty floors. I have to sweep multiple times a week to keep up with the pet hair, dirt, crumbs and other debris that clings to my floors.

Let’s face it, none of us clean our floors as much as they need it. Mopping is a pain. It’s messy, takes time and strains the back. We avoid it at all costs.

That’s why we put together a comprehensive comparison of robot mops, so you can “hire” one as your personal maid.

When it comes to the best floor mopping robot, we should know they are constantly improving, and we realize that some consumers wish to test the latest and greatest gadgets! So, we’ve ranked the 3 best floor mopping robots. We hope that in the next couple of years these robots will be much more efficient and we’ll have more positive reviews to share.

3rd Place: iRobot Braava Jet 240 Mopping Robot ReviewiRobot Braava Jet

View on Amazon

This iRobot mop has three different cleaning “styles”: wet mop, damp sweep or dry sweep. All three styles can be used on any hard floor including hardwood, tile, stone and more. The iRobot HOME app lets you check in on the robot’s progress on your floors.

It has a compact size and is square-shaped, so it can get into tight spaces. However, this also means that it takes longer for a job to get done.

The iRobot mopping robot has Cliff Detect which keeps it from falling down the stairs, and it can avoid rugs and carpet. Once it is finished with a job, it will return to its starting point and turn off. You can also create invisible boundaries with its Virtual Wall Mode to keep it out of specific rooms.

Overall, there are more complaints about this mop than we’d like to see. It appears to be a more expensive version of a Swiffer, and the replacement pads are also more expensive. Many reviewers said their floors were streaky or still dirty.

Pros

Cons

  • Can clean hard to reach areas (under tables, beds, etc.)
  • Easy to set up
  • Relatively inexpensive compared to other Roomba vacuums
  • Reusable pads available
  • Needs recharging frequently
  • Must refill the water/solution frequently
  • Takes a long time to clean an area
  • Pads get dirty quickly
  • Does not recharge on its own (like other Roomba products), you must plug it in yourself, so you risk forgetting
  • Complaints of it missing spots
  • Recurring cost to replace the pads
  • Doesn’t remove crusted on stains
  • Cannot vacuum

Our Experience

Since we only have hardwoods and a small space, I thought Braava Jet would be a good investment to help with mopping and cleaning up residual hair/dirt that is tracked in/around the house from shoes/dogs. However, while a little entertaining and impressive that it can do so many things, I was a little disappointed with the results. The robot is small, so the power isn’t very strong. It’s smart and senses walls and turns but sometimes would get stuck. Pros: the fact it can clean in hard to reach areas like under the bed where I can’t get a mop or vacuum. Also works right out of the box and is easy to set up. The cons: the pads get dirty quickly and are expensive to replace over time. – Sadie C.
