I’m getting the Facebook error message: database write failed

I’m trying to hit the “Like” button on Facebook and I keep getting the error message “An error occurred while writing to our database. Please try again later.

Is anyone else experiencing this, and if so do you know what can be done about it, if anything?

Having the same problem from some time, error in facebook. Apple support also working on the same problem from quite a few times. It will be very helpful for the users if the problem will sort out.

We had this posted as a forum topic on our old forums, and it got a gazillion responses. Here’s some of the feedback people left, hopefully some of it is useful to you:

  • Several people suggested rebooting, or, if the problem is on Facebook’s end, simply waiting for the problem to go away.
  • The error seems to occur most often when people try and “like” something on Facebook.
  • People have used multiple browsers and experience the same issue (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.)
  • Some people have gotten the message from Facebook that they are “down for maintenance.”
  • People seem to be unsuccessful submitting this problem to Facebook’s help center.
  • There’s also reports of a “validation error” when people try and post a status update or enter the same text twice in a row.
  • There are reports of this happening around the world, including with Facebook UK, Canada, and even Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines.
  • One user reports that they cannot upload any pictures, albums, or videos, nor like, comment, or change their profile picture. “I e-mailed them, but the page froze, and went back to the original text, as if I hadn’t pressed send in the first place.”
