I installed the Windows Update KB2762895 (2.7MB, published on 11/27/12) recently, which has the description “Install this update to resolve a set of known application compatibility issues with Windows. For a complete listing of the issues that are included in this update, see the associated Microsoft Knowledge Base article for more information. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.“
I didn’t notice anything at first but after using my PC for a couple hours I suddenly got the dreaded BSOD (Blue Screen of Death), with the message SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION and a bunch of other stuff. Any ideas how to resolve this? For now I’ve rolled back the update and hidden it from re-installing (by right-clicking it and selecting “hide”), and everything appears to be working normally again.
