My love-hate relationship with clothing and fashion runs deep. On the one hand, I enjoy supporting independent, fashion-forward brands and finding new pieces for the changing seasons. And the confidence boost I get after styling a killer outfit is unreal. But there are many mornings I wake up, stare mindlessly into my closet, and reach the same tired conclusion: I have nothing to wear.

Regularly refreshing your wardrobe can be expensive, and with a busy schedule, it’s not always easy to find time to shop. I’ve almost given up entirely on shopping in-store, and while browsing my favorite online retailers can be fun, it’s also turns into a huge time suck.

Thankfully, many clothing subscriptions cater to this problem. Wantable, one of the most popular services, offers affordable monthly styled boxes for daywear, activewear, and sleepwear for women—plus activewear for men—that ship directly to your door. Read my Wantable review to see if this personal styling service is a smart solution for your lifestyle.

How Does Wantable Work?

Wantable calls itself a “try-before-you-buy online retailer.” To use this service, complete the style quiz, which allows the personal stylists at Wantable to curate a themed box—called an “Edit”—based on your style, size, and apparel needs.

Once you complete the quiz, you are asked to select a box style (Style, Active, Sleep & Body, or Men’s Edit) and provide payment to activate your account and initiate your first shipment. Your order will consist of seven pieces of clothing and/or accessories.

Style boxes contain an assortment of tops, denim, jackets, and more, while the Sleep & Body Edit contains lingerie and sleepwear. Both women’s and men’s Active boxes contain workout gear and leisurewear.

You can preview and revise your order before shipping, which sets this service apart from some of its competitors. After receiving your shipment, keep what you like and return anything you don’t want using the prepaid mailer within five days. Finally, provide feedback via your Wantable account before your next Edit ships. You can also request specific items via your Wantable account.

Step One: Complete The Style Quiz

To test Wantable, I started with the style quiz. The detailed quiz asks questions about your size, body proportions, clothing preferences, and budget.

The quiz takes under five minutes but is also thorough enough to give your stylist a sense of your style preferences.

I liked that the quiz asked about my preferred colors, patterns, and materials. Never in my life have I looked good in yellow, so it was nice that I could remove that color from my stylist’s selection pool. This section is also great for people who prefer wool, faux fur, faux leather, and other clothing materials.

The quiz asks you mark outfits you “like” or “dislike” to better understand your personal style.

Step Two: Schedule Your Delivery

Once the quiz is complete, enter your shipping and payment information and select the box theme you wish to receive. You can also choose how often you want to receive your box: every month, every other month, or every three months.

Step Three: Receive Package

Once your stylist picks out your items, you’ll be shipped your box. The service gives you five days to decide what to keep, and you can return the rest for free. You’re only billed for what you keep, and the styling fee is credited towards your final purchase. If you buy five or more pieces, you get 20% off your order.

Step Four: Provide Feedback

With Wantable, you can leave notes for your stylist on your likes and dislikes. It can take some time for the stylists to learn your personal preferences, so providing feedback is crucial to the success of future boxes.

Customer Feedback

Overall, customer feedback for Wantable is positive. Wantable sends a nice variety of items in appropriate sizes. If you struggle to find your size online shopping, you’ll appreciate Wantable’s style fit help.

The service is convenient, and it’s easy to manage your account. While slightly more expensive than competitors like Stitch Fix, users also report that the quality is better with Wantable.

That being said, most negative feedback relates to pricing and quality. As in, Wantable charges too much for the quality of apparel and accessories you receive. Many users also report poor styling choices from their Wantable stylist.

What’s My Final Verdict on Wantable?

I think Wantable is a great option for those who want to expand their wardrobe but don’t have the time or patience to go shopping. This service is good for those who want to explore new apparel styles and aren’t too picky about brands, styles, or materials.

Most people find it a step up from the Stitch Fix but expect to pay a bit more for the quality.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some questions our readers want to know about Wantable. Don’t see yours? Ask me in the comments.

Is Wantable Legit?

Wantable is a legitimate service with an A+ BBB rating and accreditation. The company is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and has been offering subscription clothing boxes since 2012.

Is Wantable Worth It?

If you’re super into current trends and premium brands, this subscription service isn’t worth trying. I recommend Wantable to those who are too busy to shop but still want to expand their wardrobe. It’s a great way to introduce yourself to styles you may not normally wear, and prices are on the lower end for clothing subscription boxes.
