Printer cartridge: Best Printer ReviewDon’t let a bad printer jam you up from making deadlines or finishing assignments. You can get a lot of functionality and many features for a relatively low price tag. But with thousands of printers on the market, how do you even begin to choose the best one for your needs?

Article Overview

What Type Of Printer Should I Get?

A majority of printers on the market today come with a number of built-in functions in addition to printing, but some of these features run up the cost. Besides the bells and whistles to look for, you’ll also want to evaluate the printing needs of your business (how often you’ll print, what types of documents you’ll print, the quantity of pages, etc.) before deciding on what type of printer is best for you.

Do you have a need for a copier, scanner and fax machine? All-in-one printers are commonplace these days, and they can perform all of these functions as well as printing.

Or do you only need to print documents occasionally? If so, a plain printer (one that only prints) could be your best bet. Obviously, the price of plain printers is significantly less than multi-function printers. You can get a decent plain printer for a fraction of the price.

Laser vs Inkjet

Let’s talk about the types of ink. Is it better to get inkjet vs laser? This video is around seven minutes but worth a watch if you want to learn more about the pros and cons of these two kinds of printers.

Best Photo Printer: Canon Pixma Pro-100 Review

Canon Pixma Pro-100View on Amazon

Many all-in-one printers can also print photos, but the quality varies pretty widely. If you’ll be printing a lot of photos or want to step up your photo printing, the Canon Pixma Pro-100 is an excellent mid-range choice.

Unlike many other inkjet printers that have 4- or 5-ink systems, the Canon Pro-100 has an 8-ink dye based system to give you the most optimal and vivid color with every print. Its Optimum Image Generating System analyzes each area of your photo and chooses the best color mixture, so your prints look amazing.

It also does excellent grayscale printing, so your black and white prints are high quality. It’s a great solution for the amateur or professional photographer (or if you just want professional looking family photos to hang on your walls).

  • Ink costs are very competitive
  • Professional quality photo printing
  • Excellent wireless printing functionality

Save Money On Printer Ink And Paper

What about ink costs? This is a huge factor, especially if you’ll use your printer (and print in color) fairly regularly. You can save a ton of money over the long haul by choosing a printer that either has reasonably priced ink (or toner for lasers) or that allows you to set your printing to only black and white. Another tip is to switch to eco-mode which uses reasonably less ink if you are just printing a draft or unimportant document. Check out the most popular printer ink on Amazon.

You can also save money when you buy printer paper online to stock up.

Advanced Printing Technology

Printers are advancing leaps and bounds in terms of functionality and affordability. Even 3D printers are now available for general consumers and businesses. Although you can still purchase a basic printer that doesn’t do much else, the cost of all-in-one printers is so attractive, it’s hard to pass up such features that used to break the budget just a few years ago.

I have owned Epson products for over 20 years and UNTIL NOW have always found them reliable. I have a WF 7620 which is a multifunction with a wide format capability (13×19). I recently changed the black cartridge and the black ink would not print. I went through every maintenance program on the machine. The printer is less than 2 years old and was a $300 machine! I called Epson at 6:30 PM and was told it was a hardware problem & out of warranty so too bad! I said that I was VERY displeased with Epson products because if you go online, you will see NUMEROUS work-around to unclog the printer head! Apparently this is a known problem but if you are not lucky enough to have it happen within the first 365 days, you are out of luck. And, yes, I always use Epson ink! From Staples! I spoke to a supervisor after waiting on hold for 40 minutes & was greeted with “good morning” even though it was 6:30 PM! I guess it was morning in her country! She basically offered a 15% off the next useless Epson product. DO NOT PURCHASE unless you plan to ALSO get a long term warranty with it! You will be left with a $300 door stop! Get the word out! Epson should own up to the issues that it has instead of offering you 15% off to make the same mistake again!!

I’m sorry but I have a hard time believing this article after they said a $119 printer is any good. Yes it prints N ppm but will it break 2 days after the warantee runs out?
I had followed your post for a very long time which provides information about Error Code B200 in Canon PIXMA Printers
I faced a problem with print-head overheating stop me from doing my work in the middle.
But valuable discussion helped me in solving this issue. Your above dialog was great Thanks.
I really appreciate your post because it is very informative. I have a Canon pixma IX6860 printer. It was always my first choice for the features and looks it has to offer.
I have a Samsung ML-1666 laser printer that connects to my desktop PC using a USB Type A-to-Type B cable. The computer end of the cable is a USB Type A (male) while that on the printer end is a USB B (square) that plugs into a USB B port. My desktop PC connects to the internet wirelessly using a wireless router. Is it possible to connect a wireless print server to this printer to convert it into a wireless printer? If so, what more (in terms of cables / connectors) would I need apart from the wireless print server? Please help!
I have epson wf 2650 let me start off by saying first one I purchased wouldn’t even work had to get replacement and no 800 number call . Then get replacement and have had nothing but problem . It’s an ink hog . Just changed cartridges with epson ink and now saying no ink doesn’t recognize cartridges yes it’s the brand recommended and not refurbished one . These printers at best are a boat anchor yes ink cheaper but nothing but a head ache problem after problem .uses epson 220 cartridge by the way .
My printer at home broke and I was debating getting a replacement because I don’t print that often and the ink cartridges are so darn expensive but after reading this the Epson Expression looks like a decent price and the ink costs aren’t too bad. I like the fact that it’s wireless too. Could save me a few extra trips to Kinko’s and save me a few bucks in the long run too!
