If and when all criteria above are met, here are the steps to merge the pages:
- Log into Facebook, switch to your page by clicking your profile at the top right, and click “see all profiles. ” Then select the page you want to remove and merge it into another page.
- Click “Settings & Privacy” and then “Settings” on the dropdown menu under the page’s profile icon at the top right.
- In the left-hand column, click “New Pages Experience” and “Merge Pages.”
- In the Merge Pages section, click the “Start request” button and “Next” in the pop-up window.
- It will then ask you which page you want to merge with and ask you to confirm which page will merge with which.
- Review the information to ensure everything is correct, then click “Request Merge.”
If your pages are on Business Manager, you can go to business.facebook.com/pages/merge request to merge duplicate pages. Why Can’t I Merge My Facebook Pages?
Remember that Facebook may not allow you to merge certain types of pages. If you cannot merge pages, you may not be eligible. At the time of publication, Facebook is the only social media platform (including Instagram, X, Pinterest, YouTube, and TikTok) that allows you to merge two similar or identical accounts. So it’s the exception, not the norm, to have this ability.
You worked hard to gain the trust of your followers and built up a fan base. You don’t want to let all that go to waste. So, it might be disappointing to find out that you can’t merge the pages or even rename them (for whatever reason). However, this is ultimately what’s in the best interest of your followers. If two pages are completely different topics or businesses, this will confuse your fans who initially opted into liking one thing and then turned into another.
For example, Sarah owns two Facebook pages for her pet businesses. One is called “Sarah’s Pet Grooming,” and the other is called “Sarah’s Doggy Day Care.” She wants to merge them into one page, but Facebook won’t allow it. Even though Sarah has admin access to both pages and owns both businesses in the same location, they represent different services, and Facebook views them as separate entities. Even if Sarah were to rename one of the pages “Sarah’s Pet Grooming & Doggy Day Care,” there’s still no guarantee that Facebook would approve the merge.
Troubleshooting Tips
For those of you still having trouble, it’s not always you. Facebook is notorious for technical issues and glitches over the years that may prevent a merge. But if you follow these few steps, you should be able to merge your pages in no time! If you cannot merge the pages or have any problems with the merge process, you might want to wait and try again later or contact Facebook’s support (although that isn’t always the easiest to get in touch with a human there).
