Linking Your Facebook Page To Twitter (2021 Update)
Many of our readers have encountered issues trying to link these two popular platforms. The method for successfully getting the link between Twitter and Facebook to work has changed over the years. It has unfortunately been entirely disabled in recent years. We have retained our old instructions below in case the companies reactivate this feature. Meanwhile, we present you with our workaround (which we hope you’ll find could prove to be a more sustainable and effective solution anyway).
A social media management tool accomplishes the same goal as linking your accounts: posting content simultaneously to Facebook and Twitter. Not only that, many tools allow you to post to additional platforms like Pinterest, Instagram, LinkedIn, and others.
We are big fans of SEMRush and have been using it for years, not only for our SEO needs but also for social media posts. Once you create an account, you can link up your social media accounts. Using the Social Media Poster tool, you can simultaneously post to Facebook and Twitter (and additional channels too). You can also schedule posts, and the software will suggest ideal posting times.
Here’s a calendar view of some of our content posted via SEMRush so you can see it in action. The icons to the left of each post indicate which platform it will post to and the timestamp when it will post that day of the month (with the past dates in grey and green checkmarks showing that it is complete). Learn more about SEMRush in our in-depth review.
When scheduling a post, you will see a preview of the post and how it will appear on the various channels. Then after it posts, you’ll get analytics on how it performed. Here’s how the preview function looks so you can see the post will appear on Facebook and Twitter (along with the scheduling feature).
In addition to Semrush, consider a social media-specific tool like Hootsuite. They offer affordable pricing and free accounts for up to three profiles (Facebook, Twitter, and one additional social media platform). You can use Hootsuite to monitor mentions, interactions, likes, and more. Below is a screenshot of what their web-based tool looks like).
Linking Your Facebook Page To Twitter (Old Method – Currently Disabled)
Prior to mid-2020, before Facebook disabled this feature, these were the steps you took to link Facebook to Twitter. Again, they have since removed this feature, so these instructions are no longer valid. We are keeping them here for archival purposes, and in case they reactivate one day.
Go to facebook.com/twitter and click on the “link to Twitter” button. You can connect your personal profile (at the top) and/or any of your Facebook pages, all from this page.
You must log in to the Twitter account you are trying to link.
From there, it will take you to a prompt to authorize Facebook to use your account. If you are not logged in, you will need to enter your Twitter username and password first.
Once you click on “Authorize,” it will redirect you back to Facebook to see the following screen and select what type of content you’d like to share by clicking on the boxes.
Here you can decide how much information you want to share with Twitter, then click “save changes,” and you’re all set! Now you’ll be able to post a status update on Facebook that will save you from having to log in to both services and post two separate updates.
Since Twitter has a character limit, it will automatically truncate your post with an automatically created short URL (Example fb.me/XYC) that will link back to the original post on Facebook.
Linking Your Tweets To Facebook
Additionally, you can post your Tweets to your Facebook page at twitter.com/settings/applications. However, since June 2015 this feature is experiencing technical issues.
Ready, Set, Post!
We hope that helps you in your quest to save yourself time and energy when posting to Facebook and Twitter simultaneously. While the process has changed, the outcome is still the same. And using these third-party tools make your job even easier than doing it the old way. Learn more about Facebook best practices, including how to set up your own custom URL for your Facebook page.
What benefits do you find from posting to Twitter and Facebook at once?

The old way of facebook.com/twitter takes me to a person’s page named Bensuri.
I see that too, very odd, thanks for sharing Mike!
this post is outdated. facebook-twitter apps have cease to exist last year.
I don’t think this works anymore? I tested it several times and even tried the logging out of both accounts thing you mentioned below and it still doesn’t work. When I go to facebook.com/twitter, it says the page has been disabled.
Yes, unfortunately we can’t get it to work anymore either so instead recommend using a social media management tool to schedule posts which can post to Facebook and Twitter at the same time. Hope that helps!
Same here. To be crystal clear, I’m talking about Facebook to Twitter, not the other way around. As Mitchell Page mentioned below, the facebook.com/twitter page is dead. I’d like add Facebook has deleted all mention of Twitter from their Help.
I am not fond of Facebook at the best of times, but this was for a client project. Swell.
Same as everyone else. Feature quit working and the facebook.com/twitter link is no longer valid. FB must have silently removed this support.
facebook.com/twitter is no longer available ? I can not access at 2020 May 30.
I set this up years ago and it was working fine until April last year. Not even this page is accessible https://www.facebook.com/twitter/
I have logged-out of both twitter and facebook and logged back in and still the posts from our facebook page do not show up on our twitter profile.
This wasn’t working for me at first. I read through the comments and saw someone recommended logging out of both accounts and then trying again. Not sure why, but then it worked for me!
A recent update to Facebook platform policies ended this ability to automatically push tweets to your Facebook account.
Not working for me.
Not working at all for me, can’t figure out why my FB page posts aren’t posting to twitter.
Is anyone else having issues with this not working recently?
Yes, I’ve been having the same problem for several weeks now. I still can’t find any information or help from Facebook about this.
Sorry to hear you are having trouble, I just tested and it seems to be working for me! Did you try logging out of Facebook and Twitter then repeating the steps?
thanks its working
this is no longer possible as Facebook recently changes its API
Why would they do this? It doesn’t make sense! 🙂
I have linked my fb to my twitter. But how do I share an older post from my fb onto my linked twitter account?
My tweets always showed up on my FB timeline until today. I have not altered any settings, so can’t understand why they no longer sync. When I go into the Twitter/settings/apps page, FB is not showing there.
Fionamarg, sorry to hear! If your Tweets aren’t posting to your Facebook profile, you might try fix disconnecting and reconnecting Twitter for Facebook in your account settings and sign out of both your Twitter and Facebook accounts and clear your cache and cookies first. Then log back in and see if the app is under your Twitter settings. Hope that helps!
I am able to auto-post only TEXTS FB page posts to Twitter. Over the last few weeks, I noticed my FB posts stopped posting if there is even ONE image. Should this be happening?
I .cant for the life lf me connect my accounts. I tried the Twitter app tab it just says Twitter Android and revoke access or report.. facebook/twitter just says somthing went wrong
I have successfully linked my Facebook Page to post on my twitter and have selected all the options for it to post text, photos, videos etc, – however, if I post, say, 4 photos on Facebook and add a caption to it – it only posts the caption to Twitter and no photos…..am I missing something?
Cat, great news that you were able to sync them up! Sorry to hear you are having trouble with it sharing multiple photos though. We’ve never tried but perhaps because due to Twitter not having Photo Albums it summarizes the post and linking to it on Facebook to see them all. I might recommend if you want to show each photo on Twitter to upload individually. Not ideal but could be a solution for you.
I created Twitter and Instagram accounts and a Facebook page for a nonprofit and connected Twitter and FB. When tweeting, the messages appear on my personal FB page/show that they are coming from me. What settings should be adjusted so that Tweets from the charity reflect the charity name and not my own? Thanks!
Erika, on the Twitter app (https://twitter.com/settings/applications) once you are logged in and connected make sure you click the box “post to my Facebook page” not “post to my Facebook profile” to see if that fixes it!
I connected my twitter and Facebook so my tweets post to my fb page. It causes duplicate posts. It’s so annoying!
I can post updates from the Facebook to Twitter. What I meant is as I update my Facebook the same gets updated on Twitter but this is not happening vice versa. I actually want my Twitter posts to go on Facebook Page.
Sivaram, to get your Twitter posts to post to Facebook log in to Twitter, go under settings then apps (https://twitter.com/settings/applications) and under the Facebook app click connect. You will be prompted to enter your log in credentials (if not already logged in) then select which page (or your personal profile) and what content you’d like to promote. Hopefully that works for you I just tested and it worked fine for me.
In the apps section I have facebook app and it says ‘Revoke Access’. The app only appeared after I had connected my facebook to twitter from facebook. Prior to it I did not have the facebook synbol in apps section.
Hi Sadie, Thank you for your response. I have tried doing that but whenever I go under settings and then apps it was not showing me facebook. I have connected my facebook to twitter so it shows the facebook app now but only option I have is ‘Revoke Access’.
Sivaram, I’m sorry you are still experiencing issues, I know the app has been flaky in the past too, but perhaps something you can reach out to Twitter or Facebook directly for help! You might also try disconnecting and re-connecting as that might do the trick. Good luck!
I can do it through the web, but not the cell. I heard you can connect groups with the phone, but not the web. bah!
I am getting issues while connecting my twitter to Facebook profile & page. Is there any way to fix this issue?
I keep trying to link my Facebook page to Twitter (I tried both from my iphone and then from my laptop following the instructions) but each time I end up with an error message when I click on “authorize app.” The message I get each time is “Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.” Would you be able to help?
Morgan, I am getting the same error message. Try going to https://twitter.com/settings/applications instead and connecting via the Facebook app within Twitter, it worked for me! Hopefully that helps you connect them!
